7. Preliminary Research underlying the Assignment:
 
It will be noted that up to 10 of the 100 marks for the assignment will be awarded in respect of the quality of the preliminary research underlying it (including the quality of the academic referencing involved). The College Librarian has been given advance notice of the assignment and she, and her able staff, will try to assist students with Library-based research (should such assistance be required). Students are however, encouraged to be self-directive in their research in as far as it is possible to be and, consequently, are advised not to neglect the role of electronic research sources generally when researching the assignment, including the important ‘ Lexis/Nexis’ database and the research facilities kindly made available to students courtesy of the University of Wales. Students are also strongly advised to refer to their Research Dissertation Manual before, and during, the undertaking of the assignment.

NB: Attention is drawn to the fact that plagiarism in any form will not be tolerated and will result in automatic referral of the student involved to the Unfair Practice Committee.
