While at the same time producing an output(a dissertation proposal) that significantly advances their research dissertation process.
Students can demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes being tested in the above respects through: 1. the preparation and submission of a formal Research Dissertation Proposal that meets the minimum requirements specified in Section 4 below; and
2. the preparation, submission and delivery of a PowerPoint presentation on that proposal in the format specified in Section 5 below.
4. Requirements for Formal Research Dissertation Proposal: The Proposal Must:
1. be submitted in hard copy format, not by e-mail or in software format 2. be in typed print, in font size 12, on A4 size paper 3. be between 3000-3500 words in length ( excluding Appendices and genuine footnotes) 4. contain the following minimum elements:
 an appropriate Title Page identifying the student number, programmme, modules, assignment number, and word-count involved;

 a Table of Contents ( with page numbers indicated, and , if relevant, appendix numbers );
 a description of the background to the student’s choice of research topic and a formal justification for the chosen research topic outlining the area(s) of the management/international business literature that inspired the choice of topic; the specific authors/works that fuelled the student’s interest in the topic; the specific parameters of the problem, process or issue at the heart of the topic; and an indication of the specific value the student hopes to add to the current literature in the research area involved through the student’s own research;
 a detailed description of, and justification for, the research methodology and the specific research methods proposed by the student including, where appropriate, reasons for not choosing other techniques;
 an indication of the likely data inputs required for the purposes of the research process proposed, together with an indication of the principal primary and secondary sources of the required data;
 a clear breakdown of the work involved in researching the chosen topic ( as envisaged by the student at this stage ) with timelines indicated;
